I think CAMRA are the most likely to have done the research into this since its in their interest to keep pubs in the heart of the community.
That said, You're close to the…"
Now thats a simple question... "any Takers?",
I find it difficult to turn on the computer, I'm not the person to do admin. I've said in this thread my feelings on the very name of the site and how it can put barriers up.…"
"@ David - "Go on, prove me wrong:-)" I do like that statement!!
There's been 622 views on this post, I wonder if it's the one with the most traffic?
I've got something out of this one post, connections with a couple of other…"
"Interesting points Neil, I too feel that I'm one of the people being considered to "have a tone that is difficult to engage with".
I thought the whole point was as Julian says "to encourage wide participation", Julian how…"
"Too right Jeff - "Nothing will change for the better while so much effort goes into elbowing others out of the way".
I can't believe it so hard to understand, even 'businesses' network better than what I've seen in…"
"Neil, have to support a lot of what you've said here.
I find the (G)government and the 'professionals' do get in the way. I am actually fed up of being seen as 'unhelpful'. I too thought the whole ethos was to JFDI, I am.
"Lorna, and for that matter anyone else, I've a model which works. Develops connections over a wider range of sectors and (IMHO) removes 'silos' or at least connects them in different ways.
If *you* want to have the model of CAN do in…"
"David, I'm very rarely 'eloquent', lol, thanks for that.
I am biased of course for getting what I've been doing off the ground, what I am doing though isn't a derivative of 'big Society' or BSITN.
Lots of questions.
If we're going to have the attitude of JFDI, how many things do you need to get behind before we JFDI?
Any journey begins with the first step. You have two projects to get behind. I've already spoken to Neil…"
Does (our) society need greater social and business collaboration ... or some such?
I'd argue that society as a whole does need better social and business collaboration. (IMHO).
Maybe this is a different thread again, but, there are…"

"Neil, what word shall we use instead? It's only a word. I'm open to suggestions though.
I have set up a SE, I have dropped the barriers between for and not for profit. They're still only words though. It's about doing it and not…"

David, I'm aiming at development in 433 local authority areas, each with its own CAN do directory of business involvement with communities which funds social activity in their area. I need to connect them,…"
I'm the founder of the CAN-do Project. It's a social Enterprise aiming at promoting local community innitiatives such as VCS to the local community. I'm looking for the people with a can do attitude, a knowledge base, people who aren't the 'gatekeepers' of information but who instead can help spread the word about the good ideas in areas to other areas.
We also promote with incentives smalll local business to help regenerate and create employment posts.

Paul the model we've been using, that is the business model, is to use our revenue to invest in stimulating a given local economy, typically by means of microenterprise, as for example in Tomsk Russia.
From the UK and our local government there's a very clear impression of 'not invested here' with their spinning out microenterprise development to a for profit quango who say "it's a completely new way of doing things". God help us!
This network is in the early stages of development so we'd very much appreciate any comments or suggestions that you have. I've set up a Feedback Forum for this, so please do share your thoughts there.
